The traditional Illavam Panju pillow, made for today. Natural kapok fibre gives a light, airy, medium-firm feel, wrapped in a wine satin-stripe cover. Weighs just 500–600 g.
Know your pillow
Before foam, Tamil homes slept on Illavam Panju: soft kapok fibre from the pods of the silk cotton tree. This wine kapok pillow keeps that tradition, filled with natural kapok and finished in a satin-stripe cover with a warm wine colour.
Kapok fibres are hollow, so the pillow is surprisingly light for its size, about 500 to 600 grams. It gives a medium-firm, springy support that settles around your head without the heavy, enclosed feel some people dislike in foam.
It suits side, back and combination sleepers, and people who sleep curled in a foetal position. If you sleep mostly on your stomach, a softer, flatter pillow such as our hollow fibre pillows may be more comfortable.
Natural kapok settles and compresses with use. Fluff it each morning, air it in a shaded, well-ventilated spot, and keep it dry. Don’t wash or soak the pillow.
Buying for two? The wine kapok pillows set of 2 gives you a matching pair. Read more about kapok in our kapok pillow guide.
Side, back and combination sleepers who want a natural plant fill, and families who grew up with Illavam Panju pillows.
Kapok settles with use. A quick fluff every morning brings back the loft.

Nice Product
This pillow reminds me of the traditional cotton pillows we used to have at home. It’s soft, supportive, and has that natural feel that’s hard to find these days.
