Pure or mulberry silk is a natural protein fibre from silkworms. It’s beautiful, delicate and expensive, and it usually needs hand washing. Satin silk uses the satin weave to give a similar smooth, lustrous surface, in a fabric you can machine wash. If you want the feel without the fuss, satin silk is the practical choice.
A higher thread count packs more threads into each square inch. At 600 TC the satin is dense and fine, so it feels smoother and more substantial.
